I’m a mechanical engineer based in Portland, Oregon, with a career focused on building energy modeling and sustainable design. I run Alentur LLC, where I work at the intersection of engineering, software, and building performance.

My path into energy modeling started with a mechanical engineering education at the University of Central Florida — a B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering — followed by early-career work in sales engineering and then a pivot into the software and consulting side of the building industry. I’ve spent time as an adjunct instructor, a product manager, and a consultant, and in 2018 I started Alentur to do the work that interests me most.

On the volunteer side, ASHRAE has been a constant thread through my career since I was a student member in 2005. What started with chapter involvement has grown into two decades of service at the chapter, regional, and society level — something I’m genuinely proud of and find deeply worthwhile.

Outside of engineering, I’m a competitive masters swimmer. I race in pool meets and open water events with Oregon Masters, and I’ve been doing it long enough to have collected a few national-level honors. It’s the part of my life that keeps me honest about showing up and doing the work even when conditions aren’t ideal — which, in open water swimming, they rarely are.

This site is a place to keep all of that in one spot. My business site (alentur.com) covers my professional portfolio in more depth — consider this the fuller picture.
